The group&#8217;s lawyer has stated that the allegations put forward by the Hawks are false, but no further comment on the matter has been given. Like Gordhan, the other SARS officials have received support from civil rights groups and society at large.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.moneyweb.co.za\/mymoney\/moneyweb-tax\/south-africans-wont-pay-tax-if-its-wasted-ombud-warns\/\">The tax ombudsman has warned that South Africans will push a tax revolt if they feel that their tax money is being wasted by government, MoneyWeb reports<\/a><\/strong>. The ombud&#8217;s comment came amid an apparent\u00a0&#8216;war&#8217; between Pravin Gordhan and the Hawks, which is believed to be politically motivated. He said ethical spending was vital for a country&#8217;s tax processes to work.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>South Africa&#8217;s rand weakened further to a one-month low on\u00a0Thursday, weighed down by lingering uncertainty over whether\u00a0the finance minister faces arrest. <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.xe.com\/currencycharts\/?from=USD&amp;to=ZAR\">On Friday, the rand pushed lower trading at R14.21 to the dollar, R18.76 to the pound and R16.05 to the euro as the Hawks vs Gordhan discussion would not dissipate<\/a><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Oil prices dipped in early trading on Friday after the Saudi\u00a0energy minister tempered expectations of strong market\u00a0intervention by producers during talks next month.
