If you venture onto Stats SA’s website you will be met with a full-page notification\u00a0that\u00a0the stats body has moved into its new R1.4 billion offices in Pretoria.<\/p>\n

Under construction since 2014, the new offices were a joint venture between government and JSE-listed Wilson Bayly Holmes-Ovcon (WBHO). Of the R1.4 billion construction cost, R600 million was supplied by government, with over R800 million coming from WBHO.<\/p>\n

The tender to build the offices was won by\u00a0Dipalopalo Consortium, of which WBHO is a shareholder.\u00a0The other shareholders in the consortium are Vulindlela, Fikile and Crowie Concessions.<\/p>\n

Nedbank Capital acted as the mandated lead arranger and funder of the project.<\/p>\n

The building was designed by GLH Architects (who has done work on Multichoice’s offices and Rivonia Towers) and\u00a0achieved a 4 Star – Green Star SA Office rating from the Green Building Council of South Africa.<\/p>\n

It is expected to house about 3,000 Stats SA employees who currently occupy a number of buildings in Pretoria.<\/p>\n

The land the new building occupies is a\u00a060,000 square metre piece of government-owned property\u00a0between Koch, 6th Street and Pretoria Station in Salvokop.<\/p>\n

While the Stats SA staff have moved the building, it will only get its official opening in the coming weeks.<\/p>\n
