{"id":13573,"date":"2012-05-27T10:14:44","date_gmt":"2012-05-27T08:14:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=13573"},"modified":"2012-05-28T10:15:50","modified_gmt":"2012-05-28T08:15:50","slug":"most-popular-banks-in-sa-townships","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/banking\/13573\/most-popular-banks-in-sa-townships\/","title":{"rendered":"Most popular banks in SA townships"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A survey by <a title=\"ikapadata\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/3080-ikapadata\">Ikapadata<\/a>, a research company based in Cape Town, showed which bank is most popular among township residents in Johannesburg, Durban, and Cape Town.<\/p>\n<p>Ikapadata surveyed 1,008 participants during April 2012 in various townships, with 84% of respondents saying that they have a bank account.<\/p>\n<p>Of the township residents surveyed, 25% indicated that they use their cellphones for accessing their bank accounts or sending money to other cellphone users via mobile money services.<\/p>\n<p>16% said that they have a mobile money account with <a title=\"FNB -
