{"id":13620,"date":"2012-06-03T23:01:38","date_gmt":"2012-06-03T21:01:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=13620"},"modified":"2012-06-03T23:02:52","modified_gmt":"2012-06-03T21:02:52","slug":"cell-c-lcr-service-may-hurt-vodacom-and-mtn","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/mobile\/13620\/cell-c-lcr-service-may-hurt-vodacom-and-mtn\/","title":{"rendered":"Cell C LCR service may hurt Vodacom and MTN"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a title=\"Cell C\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/1641-Cell-C\">Cell C<\/a> announced in early May that it has launched a niche business product for <a title=\"least cost routing (LCR)\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/2557-LCR-Least-Cost-Routing\">least cost routing (LCR)<\/a> providers, called LCR AnyNet, slashing previous wholesale LCR rates.<\/p>\n<p>LCR AnyNet costs R150 per SIM per month and will provide a flat-rate of 99c across mobile networks and 60c to fixed-line networks.<\/p>\n<p>To date, <a title=\"Vodacom\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/1639-Vodacom\">Vodacom<\/a> and <a title=\"MTN\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/1640-MTN-Group\">MTN<\/a> have not responded to Cell C\u2019s new LCR product, and according to an industry player, the two cellular giants stand to lose millions in revenue if they wait any longer.<\/p>\n<p>Cell C\u2019s new LCR AnyNet product offers LCR providers far higher margins on their current retail rates, which means that it makes financial sense to replace all their current Vodacom and MTN SIMs with Cell C LCR SIMs.<\/p>\n<p>Most LCR providers currently use mainly Vodacom and MTN SIMs for their operations, but this is changing with Cell C\u2019s new LCR AnyNet product.<\/p>\n<p>One large LCR provider has already ordered thousands on Cell C SIMs, and he told MyBroadband BusinessTech that he is trying to replace his Vodacom and MTN SIMs with Cell C SIMs as fast as he can.<\/p>\n<p>According to the LCR provider, Vodacom and MTN have been less than enthusiastic to cut their rates to fall in line with Cell C\u2019s new prices.
