FNB has warned its clients of a new scam going around in which customers are asked to ‘reactivate’ or ‘register’ their bank cards.<\/p>\n

The scam follows the typical phishing mould, but is presented in a more ‘realistic’ way, coming from an InContact@FNB email address, which could be easily associated with the bank’s official sources.<\/p>\n

Clients receive an email requesting them to reactivate or register your FNB card, with a warning that failure to do so will lead to the card being suspended.<\/p>\n

The email contains an attachment:<\/p>\n

When the attachment is selected, clients are presented with a fake fnb.co.za screen requesting personal information:<\/p>\n

“When you enter your details on this screen, the fraudsters will be in position to access your banking profile,” the bank warned.<\/p>\n

FNB will neverask for your username, password or PIN in an email, SMS or phone call, the bank said.<\/p>\n

“Never select a link to our website that was sent via email. Always type in FNB’s web address. Report fraud on 087 575 9444.”<\/p>\n
