{"id":137587,"date":"2016-09-21T19:00:28","date_gmt":"2016-09-21T17:00:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=137587"},"modified":"2016-09-21T19:25:59","modified_gmt":"2016-09-21T17:25:59","slug":"here-are-the-best-selling-chocloates-in-south-africa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/business\/137587\/here-are-the-best-selling-chocloates-in-south-africa\/","title":{"rendered":"Here are the best-selling chocolates in South Africa"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Three confectionery companies &#8211; namely Cadbury owner Mondel\u0113z, Nestl\u00e9, and Beacon owner, Tiger Brands &#8211; account for nearly three quarters of the market in South Africa.<\/p>\n<p>Citing Euromonitor, BusinessDay noted that Mondel\u0113z tops the country&#8217;s chocolate confectionery with a value share of 42%, followed by Nestl\u00e9 SA at 23%, and Tiger Brand\u2019s Beacon at 8%.<\/p>\n<p>Mondel\u0113z South Africa is the largest confectionery business in the country, enjoying market leadership in the chocolate, chewing gum and bubble-gum categories.<\/p>\n<p>The company\u2019s portfolio includes some of the largest snacking brands in the world, including Cadbury Dairy Milk, Halls, Oreo and Stimorol gum.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, Mondel\u0113z SA is the custodian of iconic and well-loved local brands such as Chappies bubble gum, Chomp, Lunch Bar and Dentyne chewing gum.<\/p>\n<p>Mondel\u0113z SA&#8217;s best selling chocolates are:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Cadbury Lunch Bar 46g<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Cadbury Lunch Bar mini 23g<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Cadbury Chomp 22g<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Cadbury P.S. Caramilk 46g <\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Cadbury Crunchie 41g<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><a  data-lightbox=\"post-image\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Lunchbar.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-new-size wp-image-137609\" src=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Lunchbar-640x427.png\" alt=\"lunchbar\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" srcset=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Lunchbar.png 640w, https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Lunchbar-300x200.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Mondel\u0113z\u00a0 noted that between August 2015, and July 2016, the company sold 34\u00a0760\u00a0302 Cadbury Lunch Bars (46g), more than double the mini version at 15\u00a0889\u00a0239 units.<\/p>\n<p>The company sold 14\u00a0422\u00a0852 Chomps over that period, 14\u00a0088\u00a0028 P.S.
