South Africa has an undisputed king of the road when it comes to suburban utility vehicles (SUVs) and crossovers.<\/p>\n

First introduced in the country in 2006, Toyota launched its third generation Fortuner in March 2016, which meant a slow start to the year in terms of sales as loyal customers waited patiently for the new arrival.<\/p>\n

Toyota sold only six older models in February, and 352 in January ahead of the launch.<\/p>\n

By the end of August however, data from Naamsa and Lightstone showed that Fortuner is still a clear favourite for South Africans.<\/p>\n

Toyota Fortuner – Price from R438,000<\/strong><\/p>\n

The 2016 edition of the Fortuner has eight models in South Africa, and has already sold\u00a0 7,809<\/strong> units since March.<\/p>\n

The Fortuner 2.7 VVTi RB 6AT starts from R438,000<\/strong>, while the top of the range model, the 4.0 V6 4×4 6AT, starts from R659,000<\/strong>, and boasts the following specs:<\/p>\n
