consumer items South Africans complain about the most, and why"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The South African Consumer Goods and Services Ombudsman (CGSO) has revealed a list of the most complained about products in South Africa, and why we complained about them.<\/p>\n<p>In releasing its annual report earlier this year for the 2015\/16 period, the CGSO found tha issues relating to mobile phones topped the list of complaints during the year, drawing 1,124 complaints out of 3,495 cases overall.<\/p>\n<p>The ombudsman said that total call centre calls received during the reporting period amounted to 14,599.<\/p>\n<p>The ombudsman said that the average time it took to close a case was just shy of two months, adding that cases were &#8216;resolved&#8217; in the following way:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Resolved \u2013 complaint upheld fully &#8211; 869<\/li>\n<li>Referred \u2013 outside jurisdiction &#8211; 464<\/li>\n<li>Resolved \u2013 assistance provided &#8211; 273<\/li>\n<li>Resolved\u00a0 \u2013 matter not upheld &#8211; 258<\/li>\n<li>Dismissed\u00a0 \u2013 no cooperation from supplier &#8211; 130<\/li>\n<li>Dismissed\u00a0 \u2013 no cooperation from complainant &#8211; 74<\/li>\n<li>Complainant withdrew complaint &#8211; 58<\/li>\n<li>Resolved\u00a0 \u2013 complaint upheld partially &#8211; 52<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Duplicate &#8211;
