{"id":141565,"date":"2016-10-27T18:12:30","date_gmt":"2016-10-27T16:12:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=141565"},"modified":"2016-10-28T09:18:57","modified_gmt":"2016-10-28T07:18:57","slug":"anc-councillors-turn-to-violence-in-nelson-mandela-bay-reports","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/government\/141565\/anc-councillors-turn-to-violence-in-nelson-mandela-bay-reports\/","title":{"rendered":"ANC councillors turn to violence in Nelson Mandela Bay: reports"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ANC councillors have reportedly attacked DA council leaders in\u00a0the Nelson Mandela Bay metro\u00a0as tempers flared during a council sitting, according to multiple reports.<\/p>\n<p>It is as yet unclear how the violence started, but accounts from the various parties say that some ANC members fought back after being asked to leave the meeting.<\/p>\n<p>DA chief whip in the metro, Werner Senekal was stabbed in the back during the altercation, while another DA councillort,\u00a0Rano Kayser is in hospital having sustained wounds, Trollip said.<\/p>\n<p>According to the mayor, one ANC member also collapsed, and had blood on her face.<\/p>\n<p>Eyewitness reports from the meeting say that the DA councillor was hit over the head with a glass jug by the ANC member.
