ANC councillors have reportedly attacked DA council leaders in\u00a0the Nelson Mandela Bay metro\u00a0as tempers flared during a council sitting, according to multiple reports.<\/p>\n
It is as yet unclear how the violence started, but accounts from the various parties say that some ANC members fought back after being asked to leave the meeting.<\/p>\n
DA chief whip in the metro, Werner Senekal was stabbed in the back during the altercation, while another DA councillort,\u00a0Rano Kayser is in hospital having sustained wounds, Trollip said.<\/p>\n
According to the mayor, one ANC member also collapsed, and had blood on her face.<\/p>\n
Eyewitness reports from the meeting say that the DA councillor was hit over the head with a glass jug by the ANC member. Glasses and jugs were being thrown around at full force, they said, before security discharged a round to quell the violence.<\/p>\n
