{"id":141649,"date":"2016-10-30T19:00:02","date_gmt":"2016-10-30T17:00:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=141649"},"modified":"2016-10-30T18:11:12","modified_gmt":"2016-10-30T16:11:12","slug":"how-the-average-salary-is-split-on-expenses-in-major-cities-across-south-africa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/lifestyle\/141649\/how-the-average-salary-is-split-on-expenses-in-major-cities-across-south-africa\/","title":{"rendered":"South Africa&#8217;s most expensive cities to live in"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Two global cost of living indices have been updated for October 2016, showing that South Africa has a new second most expensive city &#8211; replacing Cape Town.<\/p>\n<p>According to both the Numbeo Cost of Living Index and the Expatistan Cost of Living Index, updated for October 2016, Pretoria has overtaken Cape Town as the second most expensive major city in the country.<\/p>\n<p>Numbeo&#8217;s data is determined by user input on the site, which opens itself up to some doubt &#8211; however, it reflects a similar positioning to other rankings where objective data is measured.<\/p>\n<p>Notably, both Numbeo and Expatistan have marked Pretoria&#8217;s rise in living costs &#8211; surpassing tourism mecca, Cape Town .
