CareerJunction has released its updated salary review for South Africa for November 2016, listing pay differences for 117 job types in\u00a010 sectors across the country.<\/p>\n

The jobs portal also provided details of the regional differences in pay in the three major areas of Gauteng, Durban, and the Western Cape.<\/p>\n

Gauteng consistently offers the highest salaries across all 10 sectors covered in the report.<\/p>\n

The province contributes approximately 35% to the economic output of South Africa \u2013 and has the highest concentration of business head offices.<\/p>\n

On average, across all categories and jobs, salaries in Gauteng are 7% higher than the national average, compared to 7% lower in the Western Cape, and 11% lower in KwaZulu Natal.<\/p>\n

Marketing salaries in Gauteng offer the biggest variation – 16% higher than the national average, followed closely by a 15% higher average rate for sales jobs, and 13% higher salaries in manufacturing and assembly.<\/p>\n

Conversely, KwaZulu Natal has the highest variation in the opposite direction – with finance jobs in the province offering salaries as much as a third lower than the national average.<\/p>\n

The finance sector is not kind to the Western Cape, either, where salaries are, on average, 22% lower than the national average. In Gauteng, finance jobs offer 2.5% more.<\/p>\n
