On Tuesday, ANC secretary general Gwede Mantashe said in no uncertain terms that Zuma had the backing of the ANC, and talk of recalling the president were shot down. Now analysts are expecting some form of retaliation from Zuma, either in the form of a Cabinet reshuffle or using every reach of power he has to protect himself from further attempts to get him out.

Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane is not doing anything to help her current image of being biased in favour of government, after she clashed with MPs across the political spectrum by challenging the inquiry into the SABC, and again taking a pot-shot at her predecessor, Thuli Madonsela. Mkhwebane is challenging the committee’s desire to call Madonsela as a witness in the matter, saying there is no precedent for it. The ANC, however, hit back, expressing confidence in the Abrahams, accusing the opposition of politicking.

Sanral has a massive e-toll problem – collecting fees.
