{"id":145295,"date":"2016-12-01T10:29:12","date_gmt":"2016-12-01T08:29:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=145295"},"modified":"2016-12-01T10:29:12","modified_gmt":"2016-12-01T08:29:12","slug":"anc-leaders-putting-themselves-first-nec-member","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/trending\/145295\/anc-leaders-putting-themselves-first-nec-member\/","title":{"rendered":"ANC leaders &#8216;putting themselves first&#8217; &#8211; NEC member"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ANC NEC member Tony Yengeni says the party needs to learn from the example of Cuba to stop comrades &#8220;turning on each other&#8221; for positions.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;In today&#8217;s ANC, the leaders put themselves first, and the masses second,&#8221; he told around 1,000 people at a memorial for late former Cuban leader Fidel Castro in Khayelitsha on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Water and Sanitation Minister Nomvula Mokonyane, Social Development Minister Bathabile Dlamini and ANC Chief Whip Jackson Mthembu were on the stage with him.<\/p>\n<p>Yengeni said the ANC and South Africa could draw lessons from Cuba and Castro. He said the party and the alliance should conduct an analysis on how to solve the &#8220;political turmoil&#8221; engulfing the party.<\/p>\n<p>Leaders were fighting with each other publicly over positions. Members needed to stop speaking out against one another in public, he said.<\/p>\n<p>Yengeni flirted with telling the crowd what happened at the ANC\u2019s national executive committee meeting over the weekend &#8220;from the horse&#8217;s mouth&#8221;.
