The group said that the ANC has lost the moral high ground, but it was not too late to save it &#8211; though admitted that the 101 should have intervened sooner. The group wants more than just one day in the consultative conference to discuss these issues.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.co.za\/2016\/12\/05\/cyril-ramaphosa-breaks-his-silence-slams-anc-arrogance\/?utm_hp_ref=za-homepage\">Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa has broken his silent ways and has spoken out against corruption and arrogance within the ANC, and has called for a renewal of the party<\/a><\/strong>. The DP said that it was now time for ANC leaders to set aside arrogance, and to start listening to the cries of the people of South Africa. He slammed self-enrichment and corruption, and said that the party needed to renew itself.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.timeslive.co.za\/thetimes\/2016\/12\/06\/Student-rage-as-varsity-says-its-forced-to-increase-fees\">The Wits SRC says that students will likely be back to protesting when they return to their studies in 2017, after the university announced that it would be hiking fees by 8%. <\/a><\/strong>Wits said that it needed to hike fees by 8% due to a funding short-fall, and needed to raise funds to pay staff and purchase teaching material. Student leaders say that many are simply unable to afford a hike, saying that it will lead to more protests.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.timeslive.co.za\/thetimes\/2016\/12\/06\/Racist-deletes-Facebook-ranting\">The Commission for Gender Equality believes that racist comments on social media are on the rise, following a year of racist comments on Facebook that have landed (predominantly white) South Africans in hot water.<\/a><\/strong> The group was commenting on the latest fiasco, involving a woman from Hout Bay who compared &#8220;Africans&#8221; to &#8220;stupid animals&#8221; saying they should be strung up. The woman in question has since deleted the post and her Facebook profile, but charges of crimen injuria have already been laid against her.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>South Africa&#8217;s rand weakened on Monday, reversing the strong rally it made on Friday after S&amp;P Global Ratings affirmed the country&#8217;s investment grade sovereign rating, as risk aversion seeped back into global markets.
