{"id":146035,"date":"2016-12-06T17:59:56","date_gmt":"2016-12-06T15:59:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=146035"},"modified":"2016-12-06T17:59:56","modified_gmt":"2016-12-06T15:59:56","slug":"no-salary-increase-for-public-officials-in-2017-says-zuma","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/government\/146035\/no-salary-increase-for-public-officials-in-2017-says-zuma\/","title":{"rendered":"No salary increase for public officials in 2017, says Zuma"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>President Jacob Zuma has affirmed the recommendation not to increase the salaries of public office bearers for the 2016\/17 financial year.<\/p>\n<p>The Independent Commission for the Remuneration of Public Office Bearers has recommended that there be no adjustment to the remuneration of the following public office bearers:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>All members of the National Executive (the President, Deputy President, Ministers and Deputy Ministers);<\/li>\n<li>All members of the National Parliament;<\/li>\n<li>All members of the Provincial Executive and Legislature;<\/li>\n<li>All Judges;<\/li>\n<li>Local government: Positions of Executive Mayors to Whip and<\/li>\n<li>Traditional Leadership: Position of the King\/Queen to full-time Deputy Chairperson of Provincial House of Traditional Leaders (PHTL).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The commission further recommended a 4% cost-of-living adjustment to the remuneration of Municipal Councillors and 6% for all Magistrates, full-time members of the National House of Traditional Leaders (NHTL), Headmen\/Headwomen as well as the sitting allowance for all members of NHTL and PHTL.<\/p>\n<p>Salaries and allowances of different categories of public office bearers are determined by the President, after taking into account, among others, the recommendation of the commission.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>President Jacob Zuma has affirmed the recommendation not to increase the salaries of public office bearers for the 2016\/17 financial year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":33,"featured_media":20450,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[23],"tags":[25],"class_list":["post-146035","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-government","tag-active"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/146035","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/33"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=146035"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/146035\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":146037,"href":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/146035\/revisions\/146037"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/20450"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=146035"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=146035"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=146035"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
