{"id":14618,"date":"2012-06-06T12:57:11","date_gmt":"2012-06-06T10:57:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=14618"},"modified":"2012-06-06T14:16:16","modified_gmt":"2012-06-06T12:16:16","slug":"uncapped-adsl-price-war-continues","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/internet\/14618\/uncapped-adsl-price-war-continues\/","title":{"rendered":"Uncapped ADSL price war continues"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Internet service providers (ISPs) continue to drive down the price of <a title=\"ADSL - Asymmetric digital subscriber line\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/2225-ADSL-Asymmetric-digital-subscriber-line\">ADSL<\/a> services on the back of IPConnect rate cuts by <a title=\"Telkom\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/1637-Telkom\">Telkom<\/a> on 1 April 2012.<\/p>\n<p>In the latest round of price reductions <a title=\"Afrihost\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/1822-Afrihost\">Afrihost<\/a> launched the most affordable bundled uncapped ADSL products in South Africa, while <a title=\"Openweb\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/226986-Openweb\">Openweb<\/a> unveiled a 1Mbps uncapped ADSL account for under R100 per month.<\/p>\n<p>Afrihost has launched its uncapped ADSL bundles today (6 June 2012), starting at R297 per month for an uncapped account and ADSL line rental. The company\u2019s 10Mbps uncapped ADSL accounts and ADSL access is priced at R897 per month, well below its competitors.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfrihost\u00a0recognizes\u00a0that the barrier of entry for many consumers is not so much the cost of bandwidth, but rather the total cost of a broadband solution,\u201d said Afrihost CEO <a title=\"Gian Visser\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/301335-Gian-Visser\">Gian Visser<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBy introducing the most affordable ADSL bundles South Africa has ever seen, Afrihost is launching an aggressive attack against the high cost of fixed bandwidth installations.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Openweb has unveiled their standard uncapped ADSL promotion today, offering 1Mbps uncapped ADSL accounts for R99 per month.
