They include the Hawks, SARS, Treasury and the Commercial Crimes Unit, who will all &#8220;aim to protect the public purse at all costs.&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/ewn.co.za\/2016\/12\/13\/eskom-to-keep-its-role-as-nuclear-procurement-agent\" target=\"_blank\">Eskom will remain the main procurement agency for the country&#8217;s nuclear program going forward.<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>This follows a failed application in the Western Cape High Court\u00a0Environmental groups Southern African Faith Communities&#8217; Environment Institute (SAFCEI) and Earthlife Africa legally challenging the power utility&#8217;s nuclear plans.\u00a0SAFCEI&#8217;s Kumi Naidoo says there are \u201celements\u201d pushing for this nuclear deal to go ahead. \u201cThis delay we\u2019ve seen in court is a pattern of evasion not willing to account for the nonsensical nature of this decision to proceed with this nuclear procurement.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sharenet.co.za\/news\/IMF_says_perceptions_of_weakening_governance_to_weigh_on_South_African_growth\/110e0ad8b466de34b985935fc558c9f9\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Global and domestic factors, including perceptions of weakening governance and rising uncertainty regarding policy direction are likely to weigh on South Africa&#8217;s economic growth next year<\/strong><\/a>, the International Monetary Fund said on Tuesday. However, in a statement after a visit from members of its staff, the IMF said that improved electricity supply would help the economy and noted that wage agreements had been reached with limited strike action.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cnbcafrica.com\/news\/southern-africa\/2016\/12\/13\/criminal-charges-against-sars-commissioner\/\" target=\"_blank\">Corruption Watch has officially laid criminal charges against the South African Revenue Services (SARS) commissioner, Tom Moyane.<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>\u201cArguably the impunity enjoyed by politically well-connected people is the most serious impediment to effectively tackling corruption,\u201d said David Lewis, executive director of Corruption Watch. \u201cWe are determined that these charges, on the face of it clear violations of our anti-corruption statutes, be investigated and prosecuted.
