Forbes has compiled its annual list of the world’s most powerful people, a who’s who of global influencers.
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

The list<\/a> features just 74 individuals – one person for every 100 million people on the planet<\/span> – from varying backgrounds including country leaders such as Vladimir Putin (No.1) to billionaire political donors such as Charles Koch\u00a0(No. 31).<\/p>\n

In 2016, 28 people on the list serve as chief executives of major companies, steering businesses worth trillions of dollars. The top 10 of those CEOs – all of whom are based in America – run firms with a combined market cap of $3 trillion.<\/p>\n

And one of them is South African born Paypal creator, Elon Musk who places at No.21 on the overall list.<\/p>\n

Musk is a\u00a0current Wall Street darling, manufacturing innovative electric cars and solar products through his company Tesla, and designing and deploying advanced rockets and spacecraft, with SpaceX. He has an estimated current net-worth of\u00a0$11.5 billion.<\/p>\n

  8. Rex Tillerson – ExxonMobil<\/strong><\/li>\n
  9. Lloyd Blankfein – Goldman Sachs Group<\/strong><\/li>\n
  10. Doug Mcmillon – Wal-Mart Stores<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    The pointy end of the overall list of most powerful people in the world is dominated by the leaders of countries with the biggest economies.<\/p>\n
