{"id":151413,"date":"2017-01-19T07:38:31","date_gmt":"2017-01-19T05:38:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=151413"},"modified":"2017-01-19T07:38:31","modified_gmt":"2017-01-19T05:38:31","slug":"owners-claim-ford-kuga-models-not-in-the-recall-are-also-catching-fire","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/motoring\/151413\/owners-claim-ford-kuga-models-not-in-the-recall-are-also-catching-fire\/","title":{"rendered":"Owners claim Ford Kuga models not in the recall are also catching fire"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ford cars not part of the recent Ford Kuga 1.6-litre safety recall have also caught fire recently, according to their owners.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.timeslive.co.za\/thetimes\/2017\/01\/19\/Now-other-Ford-models-ablaze\" target=\"_blank\">TimesLive<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>reported that the owners planned to join a class action lawsuit against Ford for the losses they had suffered.<\/p>\n<p>The claims of the fires were detailed in a document given to the\u00a0National Consumer Commission, which challenges Ford\u2019s claims that only Kugas with the 1.6-litre EcoBoost engines built between 2012 and 2014 were at risk of catching alight due to overheating in the engine.<\/p>\n<p>The reported claims state that the 2.5-litre Kuga and the 1.5-litre EcoBoost Kuga may also be affected.<\/p>\n<p>Ford stated that the problem with its 1.6-litre Kugas was caused by overheating.
