The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) has announced plans to widen its investigation into acting Police Commissioner Lieutenant-General Khomotso Phahlane lavish lifestyle following\u00a0the discovery of several\u00a0high-value\u00a0vehicles at his exclusive Pretoria residence.<\/p>\n
The vehicles were reportedly purchased by the acting commissioner and his wife Beauty over the past\u00a0two-and-a-half years totaling to over R4.3 million, according to\u00a0News24<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n In addition, at least\u00a0four of the cars are being financed for around R2 million in total.<\/p>\n The cars include:<\/p>\n Police spokesperson Brigadier Sally de Beer said the allegations were factually inaccurate and were an attempt to defame and humiliate Phahlane. She also indicated that Phahlane would fight back in court.<\/p>\n “As in the instance where it was widely and inaccurately reported that the acting national commissioner had received a sound system as a corrupt gift, and the fact was that he had paid for it himself, the allegations in the leaked story relating to vehicles are misleading and false,” said De Beer.<\/p>\n In November it was reported that Phahlane and his wife Beauty Ntombizodwa had paid R850,000 in 2010 for a large erf in the upmarket Sable Hills estate. Building the house, according to forensic investigator Paul O\u2019Sullivan, would cost between R4.7 million and R5.8 million.<\/p>\n\n
