{"id":153673,"date":"2017-01-30T13:23:02","date_gmt":"2017-01-30T11:23:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=153673"},"modified":"2017-01-30T13:23:02","modified_gmt":"2017-01-30T11:23:02","slug":"9-things-in-your-area-that-will-devalue-the-price-of-your-home","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wealth\/153673\/9-things-in-your-area-that-will-devalue-the-price-of-your-home\/","title":{"rendered":"9 things in your area that will devalue the price of your home"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Real estate website, Realtor.com has released a <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.realtor.com\/news\/trends\/noise-discounts\/?aid=11921783&amp;pid=7099101&amp;cid=aff_cj_rdcandrental_allaffiliates_cj\" target=\"_blank\">report <\/a><\/strong>detailing how noise pollutants like highways, busy roads, airports, railways and schools in your neighbourhood devalue the price of your home.<\/p>\n<p>The report was\u00a0based on nine\u00a0major noise factors and calculated by comparing the price difference between homes within a certain radius of the noisy\u00a0<span class=\"s1\">source<\/span>\u00a0and the median price of homes in the rest of the postal\u00a0code.<\/p>\n<p>The report found that the airports were the biggest detractor from a home&#8217;s selling price as a property could lose up to 13.2% off the going rate if one is located within 3 kilometres of the home.<\/p>\n<p>This was followed by railway tracks (12.3%) in second and highways (11.3%) in third.<\/p>\n<p>The airport statistic is based on an airport being located within 3 kilometers of\u00a0a home (as it&#8217;s almost impossible to have a home closer to the runway).
