AMEX Centurion<\/strong><\/h3>\n<div id=\"attachment_90012\" style=\"width: 610px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a  data-lightbox=\"post-image\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/AMEX-Centurion.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-90012\" class=\"size-full wp-image-90012\" src=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/AMEX-Centurion.png\" alt=\"AMEX Centurion\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-90012\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">AMEX Centurion<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The original &#8220;black card&#8221;, the Amex Centurion card was first introduced in 1999 to customers who meet American Express\u2019 extensive eligibility criteria.<\/p>\n<p>While other cards have tried to top it with exclusivity and rewards programmes, the Centurion retains top spot on the list due to the air of mystery and exclusivity cultivated around\u00a0it.<\/p>\n<p>What is known is that the card requires a $7,500 (R100,000) initiation fee, as well as a yearly account fee of $2,500 (R34,000), while it is reported that customers must be willing to spend around $250,000 (R3.4 million) a year to qualify.<\/p>\n<p>Card holder perks include travel benefits in the form of airline and hotel upgrades and access to airport lounges. It also provides access to a 24-hour concierge service and VIP access to exclusive events.<\/p>\n<p>Spending limits and other rewards have remained\u00a0secret.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\"><strong>2. Cardholder information is laser engraved.<\/p>\n<p>Perks include complimentary access to a fleet of private jets, and a concierge, while its <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/creditcardforum.com\/blog\/jp-morgan-palladium-card-benefits\/\" target=\"_blank\">&#8216;Ultimate Rewards program&#8217;<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0rewards\u00a0two points per dollar spent on travel, along with a of 35,000 additional points for clients who spend $100,000 (R1.37 million) annually.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\"><strong>3. Benefits include\u00a0no pre-set credit limit, your own dedicated relationship manager and a full concierge service.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>5. It is currently only available through invitation to Merrill Lynch&#8217;s highest-net-worth clients.<\/p>\n<p>This new card\u00a0features a hefty annual fee of\u00a0$950 (R12,800) but cardholders can expect $350 (R4,700) in annual travel credit, airport concierge service and savings on private jet flights.<\/p>\n<p>There is also no reported spending limit.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\"><strong>6.
