Secretary to Parliament Gengezi Mgidlana has confirmed that despite\u00a0being ready\u00a0to host this year\u2019s State of the Nation Address (SONA) on 9 February, he couldn’t guarantee that the address would be without disruptions.<\/p>\n
Addressing media as to Parliament’s readiness for Sona on 2 February, Mgidlana noted that he hadn’t heard of any expected disruptions but that they weren’t out of the question, reports ANA<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n This follows recent reports that the National Education Health and Allied Workers Union\u00a0were planning to storm the event.<\/p>\n “We know of no such plans regarding a possible disruption of Sona. Then again, I am not a member of Nehawu, but we hope for the best,” he said.<\/p>\n “We are all systems go and we feel comfortable. Plans for Sona have gone very well and everybody has made sure to host a good event for the president who is presenting, and the nation who are looking forward to hearing the president\u2019s inputs.”<\/p>\n “SAPS\u00a0and State Security have their own responsibilities for the day and Sona is not about security, its about the president and members of the public interacting with the speech being made,” said Mgidlana.<\/p>\n
