{"id":155189,"date":"2017-02-06T12:04:43","date_gmt":"2017-02-06T10:04:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=155189"},"modified":"2017-02-06T12:08:02","modified_gmt":"2017-02-06T10:08:02","slug":"new-uk-restaurants-are-coming-to-south-africa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/business\/155189\/new-uk-restaurants-are-coming-to-south-africa\/","title":{"rendered":"New UK restaurants coming to South Africa"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Gold Brands &#8211; which owns the Chesanyama and Black Steer brands in South Africa &#8211; has entered into a R830,000 agreement to bring several UK restaurants\u00a0into the country.<\/p>\n<p>The group will pay\u00a0\u00a350,000 as an up-front fee to the UK&#8217;s Casual Dining Group (CDG) to develop the latter&#8217;s brands in South Africa.<\/p>\n<p>The Casual Dining Group\u00a0operates nearly 300 UK mid-market restaurant brands including Caf\u00e9 Rouge, Bella Italia and Las Iguanas, and claims to be one of the UK\u2019s leading, most established and fastest-growing \u00a0restaurant groups.<\/p>\n<p>The proposed franchise business for the\u00a0South Africa would be operated and maintained by the Gold Brands,\u00a0with strict adherence to the CDG\u2019s business model, the group said.<\/p>\n<p>GBI will pay CDS a Royalty fee of 6% of top line sales (net of VAT and Other sales taxes) and it will also pay CDS a Restaurant opening fee of \u00a315 000 on the opening of each CDS restaurant.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is a long-term strategic decision that ultimately benefits Gold Brands as being part of a global and world-class brand will provide access to a host of global resources including best operating \u00a0practices and new products,&#8221; the company said in a statement on Monday (6 February).<\/p>\n<p>These are the brands which you may soon see on SA shores:<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><a  data-lightbox=\"post-image\" href=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/Las-Iguanas.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-new-size wp-image-155191\" src=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/Las-Iguanas-640x430.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"430\" srcset=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/Las-Iguanas.png 640w, https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/Las-Iguanas-300x202.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.iguanas.co.uk\/\"><strong>Las Iguanas<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Las Iguanas is a South American based restaurant brand which draws on the colour palette of the tropics, fresh and homely food and a vintage Latin culture.
