Background screening company, Managed Integrity Evaluation (MIE), has identified the most frequently lied about items on candidate resumes in South Africa.<\/p>\n
The company conducted a total of 561,346 qualification checks in 2016 \u2013 up 17% from 2015.<\/p>\n
MIE\u2019s results highlight that a candidate\u2019s educational history is the most likely aspect to contain discrepancies when compared to other background screening checks.<\/p>\n
Within these parameters,\u00a0there are major and minor discrepancies.<\/p>\n
Minor discrepancies include misrepresented results – such as a candidate being in the process of completing their qualification, rather than having been awarded their qualification.<\/p>\n
Major discrepancies include fraudulent results\u00a0– such as\u00a0a candidate forging or altering their certificate deliberately, or never having been awarded the qualification in the first place.<\/p>\n
According to MIE’s data, qualification verification is one of the most requested background screening checks.<\/p>\n
