{"id":156387,"date":"2017-02-09T12:29:19","date_gmt":"2017-02-09T10:29:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=156387"},"modified":"2017-02-09T12:29:19","modified_gmt":"2017-02-09T10:29:19","slug":"showmax-and-vodacom-launch-new-r49-per-month-internet-tv-service","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/mobile\/156387\/showmax-and-vodacom-launch-new-r49-per-month-internet-tv-service\/","title":{"rendered":"ShowMax and Vodacom launch new R49 per month internet TV service"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ShowMax has launched a new lower-priced service available exclusively to Vodacom customers on an add-to-bill basis.<\/p>\n<p>For R49 per month, subscribers get unlimited access to a comprehensive catalogue of TV shows, movies, kids shows, and documentaries.<\/p>\n<p>This new service has a strong focus on local content, is optimised for lower data consumption on smartphones and tablets, and is billed directly to a Vodacom account with no need for a credit card, the company said in a statement on Thursday (9 February).<\/p>\n<p>ShowMax Select is available via apps for Android and iOS smartphones and tablets, and can also be viewed via web browsers.<\/p>\n<p>As with ShowMax Premium, ShowMax Select gives subscribers the ability to download shows to smartphones and tablets to watch offline, choosing from four different file sizes.<\/p>\n<p>Using the most data-efficient setting, downloading a 20-minute TV show will require approximately 80MB, the media company said.<\/p>\n<p>Subscribers not wanting to use mobile data can also download shows via Wi-Fi.
