{"id":15690,"date":"2012-06-18T11:45:03","date_gmt":"2012-06-18T09:45:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=15690"},"modified":"2012-06-18T12:49:35","modified_gmt":"2012-06-18T10:49:35","slug":"ellies-jumps-10-on-trading-update","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/trending\/15690\/ellies-jumps-10-on-trading-update\/","title":{"rendered":"Ellies jumps 10% on trading update"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a title=\"Ellies\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/3487-Ellies\">Ellies<\/a> rallied more than 10% in mid-morning trade on the <a title=\"JSE Limited\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/1663-JSE-Limited\">JSE<\/a> on Monday (15 June), after the group said it expects <a title=\"headline earnings per share\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/2959-HEPS-Headline-Earnings-Per-Share\">headline earnings per share<\/a> for the year ended April 2012 to be between 68% and 78% higher than 31.42 cents previously.<\/p>\n<p>Shares in the group advanced 41 cents to R4.40, before moving back down to R4.30 or 7.77%, against a 0.78% gain on the All Share Index.<\/p>\n<p>Ellies, which manufactures and distributes electronic products related to television reception, says it expects its earnings per share to be between 68% and 78% higher than 31.49 cents in 2011.<\/p>\n<p>The group had previously advised, in March, that it expected HEPS and EPS to be at least 40% higher than in 2011.<\/p>\n<p>In 2011, Ellies announced revenue of R1.316 billion, and profit from operations of R146 million.<\/p>\n<p>It is still awaiting the implementation of the <a title=\"Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT)\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/2615-DTT-Digital-Terrestrial-Television\">Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT)<\/a> migration rollout through Southern Africa.<\/p>\n<p>The group said it continues its participation in energy conservation and the reduction of greenhouse effects, with renewable energy sector products including solar power, solar heating and energy efficient lighting.<\/p>\n<p>Ellies noted that SkyeVine\u00a0 had\u00a0 begun\u00a0 operations,\u00a0 by\u00a0 providing\u00a0 internet\u00a0 satellite\u00a0 connectivity within Sub-Saharan Africa, with the successful launching of Intelsat&#8217;s New Dawn Satellite. Ellies has a 45% interest in SkyeVine, &#8220;and will continue to invest and co-develop the opportunities.
