Mercedes-Benz has launched a reservation service in the UK for its X-Class pickup ahead of a 2018 launch, while the vehicle is still in concept phase.<\/p>\n

“Due to phenomenal early demand for the X-Class\u00a0– which hasn\u2019t even been unveiled yet – Mercedes-Benz Vans has launched a reservation service to enable potential UK customers to leave a refundable reservation fee to ensure they are the amongst the first to order the exciting new pickup,” the UK group said earlier this month.<\/p>\n

It called on interested customers to place their refundable reservation fee of \u00a31,000 (R16,300) to ensure that they will be given the first opportunity to order their X-Class – arriving in the UK in 2018.<\/p>\n

Steve Bridge, MD, Mercedes-Benz Vans UK, said: “Many customers we have spoken to have a strong desire to be amongst the first to own the new X-Class, which is incredible considering that it hasn\u2019t been unveiled yet.”<\/p>\n

Mercedes unwrapped its concept double-cab pickup truck in October last year. The company said key markets for the cars included South America, Europe, South Africa and Australia.<\/p>\n

The company said that the vehicle would be ‘competitively priced’. Double-cabs in South Africa cost anywhere up to R700,000.<\/p>\n

“The new X-Class will incorporate elements of the two concept design variants, illustrating the exceptional qualities of the first real pickup in the premium market segment,” Mercedes said.<\/p>\n
