{"id":161265,"date":"2017-03-01T14:17:17","date_gmt":"2017-03-01T12:17:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=161265"},"modified":"2017-03-01T14:17:17","modified_gmt":"2017-03-01T12:17:17","slug":"molefe-sidelined-from-finance-portfolio-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/trending\/161265\/molefe-sidelined-from-finance-portfolio-report\/","title":{"rendered":"Molefe sidelined from finance portfolio: report"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Contrary to widespread speculation, recently-appointed ANC MP Brian Molefe has not been placed within the finance portfolio as expected, instead finding a place in two other portfolio\u00a0committees, Times Media reports.<\/p>\n<p>In an interview with\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.businesslive.co.za\/bd\/national\/2017-03-01-mp-brian-molefe-will-not-sit-on-parliaments-finance-committee\/\">Business Day<\/a><\/strong>, Molefe confirmed that he has been placed in the international relations and economic development portfolios.<\/p>\n<p>It was speculated that Molefe, who was sworn in as an MP for the ANC in the North West Province just last week, would be filling a space within the standing committee for finance, after an ANC member in the portfolio was redeployed.<\/p>\n<p>After news broke that Molefe had been nominated to Parliament, it was revealed that ANC MP, Makhosi Khoza, was being moved out of her position on parliament\u2019s standing committee on finance.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/citizen.co.za\/news\/news-national\/1435373\/anc-mp-khoza-confirms-move-finance-committee\/\" target=\"_blank\">The Citizen<\/a><\/strong>, Khoza confirmed that she did not know why she was being moved, only that the move was sudden and that she had only\u00a0received the letter detailing her move days before it happened.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you want to know about my appointment and being moved, the first person to speak to is Jackson Mthembu because he is the one that is responsible, at least in this institution, for the deployment of ANC member.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to the the Business Day report, Mthembu was the one who placed Molefe in his two new portfolios.<\/p>\n<p>Analysts are anticipating a fresh cabinet reshuffle from president Jacob Zuma in the coming weeks.
