Alan Holloway, CEO of Ansys Telecom, says that the new venture is up and running and has already started taking orders.<\/p>\n
Holloway has resigned as CEO of JSE-listed technology company Ansys, with effect from the end of June to take up the reigns of Ansys Telecom. He was previously\u00a0COO at Spescom Ltd, and managing director at Avitronics.<\/p>\n
He bought Ansys\u2019 recently established telecommunications business for a nominal consideration, while Ansys retains a shareholding in the new company, not exceeding 25%, according to Holloway.<\/p>\n
Telecoms industry experts, Delio Senatore, Werner Kuschke and other telecommunication professionals have joined Holloway at Ansys Telecom, with the current staff count at six.<\/p>\n
The new company offers core optical and carrier ethernet solutions, as well as passive monitoring technologies and support.<\/p>\n
In Holloway\u2019s words, Ansys Telecom plays in the space of network products and design, while the group also maintains its networks. \u201cWe aim to be a value added\u00a0re-seller.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThe voice era is past, a new era is upon us, data demand is going through the roof and that will only increase as South Africans start to tap into video-on-demand,\u201d Holloway said.<\/p>\n
He noted that, as a recovering company, Ansys Group did not have the appetite for risk and adventure, “but I wanted to go for it,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The company chief says that the amount of shareholding controlled by Ansys and Ansys investors exceeds 51%.<\/p>\n
Alt-X listed software and technology group,\u00a0Ansys<\/a>\u00a0recently reported a turnaround in its operations, recording a pre-tax profit of R10.76 million for the year ended February 2012, from a prior loss of R2.43 million.<\/p>\n Revenue grew to R102.09 million, from R97.877 million in 2011, and\u00a0EBITDA<\/a>\u00a0improved to R15.45 million, from a modest R1.98 million before.<\/p>\n
