{"id":1639,"date":"2012-01-10T13:03:46","date_gmt":"2012-01-10T13:03:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=1639"},"modified":"2012-01-10T13:08:22","modified_gmt":"2012-01-10T13:08:22","slug":"santam-warns-against-online-aggregators","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/internet\/1639\/santam-warns-against-online-aggregators\/","title":{"rendered":"Santam warns against online aggregators"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Short-term insurance company, Santam, has warned consumers against opting for online insurance aggregators without sufficiently conducting their own research before-hand.<\/p>\n<p>Online insurance aggregators, known as short-term insurance price comparison service providers, promise to source multiple insurance quotes for individuals based on a risk profile generated in 5 minutes &#8211; something which Santam head, <a title=\"Person Information\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/394937-Shehnaz-Somers\" target=\"_blank\">Shehnaz Somers<\/a>, describes as &#8220;rudimentary insurance cover&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The potential online insurance policy holder may also be unaware that, with over 40 known short-term insurance providers in South Africa, it is impossible for an aggregator to source and compare all possible quotes on their behalf. However, fears about online safety and security are subsiding as more simple transactions are concluded with relative ease and convenience.<\/p>\n<p>Santam noted that South Africans are becoming more comfortable and familiar with e-Commerce.
