Celebrity Cruises has this week revealed its latest cruise ship, Celebrity Edge, which it claims sets a new industry standard having been designed completely in 3D.<\/p>\n

The ship, which is\u00a0 set to cost $1 billion, will feature the work of A-list global architects and designers, and accommodate 2,918 guests.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe new features and refined design will establish a new baseline for ships from here on out,” said Richard Fain, chairman and CEO of Royal Caribbean Cruises<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Celebrity Edge will home-port in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and is set to make her first sailing in mid December, 2018.<\/p>\n

The rooms on the planned vessel will aim to erase the boundaries between the traditional ship room and its veranda, ‘creating a closer connection to the ocean’.<\/p>\n

“The new Edge Stateroom with infinite veranda turns guest quarters into a seamless space, from the room’s door all the way to the water\u2019s edge. The simple touch of a button gives guests open-air access to the sea, bringing the outside in and the inside out,” the group said in a press release.<\/p>\n

Celebrity said it has more than doubled the number of available suites on its new ship, adding two new categories. At the top of the line are two new Iconic Suites situated above the ship\u2019s bridge.<\/p>\n

These near 2,600 sq. ft., two-bedroom, two-bathroom suites also feature a 700 sq. ft. veranda.<\/p>\n

\nAnother new Suite Class comprises six split-level Edge Villas, which will offer views from two stories of windows, private plunge pools and direct walk-out access to the sundeck.<\/p>\n

The two two-bedroom, two-bathroom Penthouse Suites also include large soaking tubs on the veranda.<\/p>\n

A Rooftop Garden, tended daily by a resident horticulturist, transforms into an outdoor movie-and-meal pairing experience in the evening.<\/p>\n

Cantilevered from the side of the ship, the ‘Magic Carpet’ – which is the size of tennis court – will scale the 16-deck ship through the day and evening like an elevator.<\/p>\n

At the summit of the ship on Deck 16, the Magic Carpet will transform into a restaurant for 90 guests. Alongside Deck 14, Magic Carpet becomes an open-air expansion of the main pool area.<\/p>\n

On Deck 5, it will extend one of the ship\u2019s specialty restaurants into al fresco seating.<\/p>\n
