The price of 93 octane petrol would decrease by 89 cents a litre on Wednesday, the energy department said on Friday (29 June 2012).<\/p>\n
A litre of 95 octane petrol would cost 85 cents less.<\/p>\n
It would be sold at R10,82 a litre in Gauteng and at R10,47 at the coast.<\/p>\n
A litre of 93 octane petrol would cost R10,1097 in Gauteng and R9,8627 at the coast.<\/p>\n
The price of diesel with a 0.05 sulphur content would drop by 62.58 cents a litre. Diesel with a 0.005 percent sulphur content would go down by 61.58 cents a litre.<\/p>\n
The wholesale price of illuminating paraffin would drop by 58 cents a litre.<\/p>\n
The single maximum national retail price for illuminating paraffin would decrease by 77 cents a litre to reach R9,71, and the maximum retail price for LP Gas by R1,13 a kilogram to reach R19,12 at the coast and R20,94 in Gauteng.<\/p>\n
The slate levy on petrol and diesel would decrease from 10.96 cents a litre to 4.38 cents a litre.<\/p>\n
Between June 1 and June 28, the average international prices for petrol, diesel and illuminating paraffin decreased.<\/p>\n
However, the average rand\/dollar exchange rate weakened when compared to the previous month, at R8,4189 compared to R8, 1031 previously.<\/p>\n
The rand’s deterioration against the dollar increased the contribution to the basic fuels price on petrol, diesel, and illuminating paraffin by 22.18 cents a litre, 23.72 cents a litre, and 23.38 cents a litre respectively.<\/p>\n
