{"id":169133,"date":"2017-04-07T10:35:33","date_gmt":"2017-04-07T08:35:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=169133"},"modified":"2017-04-07T10:58:46","modified_gmt":"2017-04-07T08:58:46","slug":"npa-seizes-r550-million-in-assets-from-corrupt-official-including-luxury-boat-and-a-farm-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wealth\/169133\/npa-seizes-r550-million-in-assets-from-corrupt-official-including-luxury-boat-and-a-farm-report\/","title":{"rendered":"NPA seizes R550 million in assets from corrupt official including luxury boat and a farm: report"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Assets worth half a billion rand have been seized from a syndicate involving a senior government official who looted state funds from the Department of Transport in KwaZulu-Natal, according to a report by <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.news24.com\/SouthAfrica\/News\/breaking-npa-seizes-half-a-billion-rand-in-assets-from-corrupt-official-20170407\" target=\"_blank\">News24<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The National Prosecuting Authority confirmed on Friday that it had seized\u00a0assets worth R543 328 962 from the property of the department&#8217;s Siphiwe Christopher Majola after he allegedly\u00a0received millions in kickbacks from companies awarded tenders to repair provincial roads.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The awarding of the tenders was preceded by several irregularities including the fraudulent circumvention of the department&#8217;s supply chain management processes and related prescripts,&#8221;
