{"id":169589,"date":"2017-04-10T12:24:57","date_gmt":"2017-04-10T10:24:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=169589"},"modified":"2017-04-10T12:24:57","modified_gmt":"2017-04-10T10:24:57","slug":"jse-to-investigate-dodgy-trades-around-gordhan-axing-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/finance\/169589\/jse-to-investigate-dodgy-trades-around-gordhan-axing-report\/","title":{"rendered":"JSE to investigate &#8216;dodgy trades&#8217; around Gordhan axing: report"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Johannesburg Stock Exchange has announce plans to investigate an increase in the trading of certain securities in the hours before former finance minister Pravin Gordhan was recalled from an international investor roadshow, according to a report by <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.businesslive.co.za\/bd\/companies\/financial-services\/2017-04-10-jse-recall-trades-will-be-probed\/\" target=\"_blank\">BusinessDay<\/a><\/strong>.<span id=\"midArticle_byline\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The exchange is reportedly set to\u00a0identify activity that might warrant further investigation by the Financial Services Board\u2019s market abuse department, after it appeared that several trades worth millions of rands were made by shorting stocks against Gordhan.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The news precipitated material moves in the value of numerous listed securities including currency futures.
