{"id":170549,"date":"2017-04-17T11:59:57","date_gmt":"2017-04-17T09:59:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=170549"},"modified":"2017-04-17T11:59:57","modified_gmt":"2017-04-17T09:59:57","slug":"media24-to-probe-controversial-deny-white-men-article-on-huffpost","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/media\/170549\/media24-to-probe-controversial-deny-white-men-article-on-huffpost\/","title":{"rendered":"Media24 to probe controversial &#8216;Deny White Men&#8217; article on HuffPost"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Media24 has announced that it was launching an investigation into the controversial blog \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.co.za\/shelley-garland\/could-it-be-time-to-deny-white-men-the-franchise_a_22036640\/?utm_hp_ref=za-homepage\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Could It Be Time To Deny White Men The Franchise?<\/strong><\/a>\u201d which was published on Huffington Post SA on 13 April.<\/p>\n<p>The blog was subsequently taken down on 15 April when Huffington Post South Africa couldn\u2019t confirm the veracity of the source.<\/p>\n<p>Media24 CEO Esmare Weideman said the company took the matter very seriously.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis has been hugely damaging not only to the Huffington Post South Africa brand but also to Media24,\u201d said Weideman.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cResponsible journalism is at the heart of what we do, it\u2019s the currency we trade in,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn an era of fake news, I know only too well that our editors spend an inordinate amount of time checking the veracity of information before they publish.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen our systems fail, we\u2019re not just alarmed, we\u2019re outraged.
