Social media tracking figures show that South African brands with a strong online presence are growing on Facebook, with MXit and Vodacom leading the way as millions of South Africans log on and get connected.<\/p>\n

Currently, South Africa ranks 33rd on the list of top Facebook countries globally, with figures by social media tracker, Social Bakers<\/a>, showing that 4,969,640 South Africans have signed up for Facebook.<\/p>\n

This number represents over 10% of the population, and a large chunk of the growing amount of people who are finding themselves online.<\/p>\n

Social Baker’s data also showed an increase of 253,760 South African Facebook users signing up to the social network giant in the past two weeks.<\/p>\n

Top South Africa brands<\/strong><\/p>\n

The top-ranked South African brands (measured by ‘likes’) have a strong presence from the tech industry in SA, with four of the five top slots taken up by that sector.<\/p>\n

MXit and Vodacom own the top slots, while FNB and BlackBerry also make a strong social media impact amongst South African Facebook users.<\/p>\n
