{"id":171999,"date":"2017-04-29T19:00:03","date_gmt":"2017-04-29T17:00:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=171999"},"modified":"2017-04-28T15:24:30","modified_gmt":"2017-04-28T13:24:30","slug":"house-price-growth-in-cape-town-joburg-and-durban-vs-the-world","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wealth\/171999\/house-price-growth-in-cape-town-joburg-and-durban-vs-the-world\/","title":{"rendered":"House price growth in Cape Town, Joburg and Durban vs the world"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Knight Frank has published its Global Residential Cities Index, which reveals how the property market of South Africa&#8217;s top cities performed against their global counterparts in the fourth quarter of 2016.<\/p>\n<p>Knight Frank&#8217;s data showed that house prices across 150 cities worldwide increased by 6.6% on average in 2016.<\/p>\n<p>Chinese cities occupy the index\u2019s top nine rankings for annual house price growth but the property group said it expects a marked change in the first quarter of 2017.<\/p>\n<p>Oslo is Europe\u2019s strongest performing city but Dutch cities have also risen up the rankings, Knight Frank.<\/p>\n<p>It pointed out that no single world region dominates the bottom of the rankings with Moscow, Aberdeen, Seville, Darwin, Jaipur comprising the five weakest markets<\/p>\n<p><a  data-lightbox=\"post-image\" href=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/KnightFrank3-e1493047238420.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-172125\" src=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/KnightFrank3-e1493047238420.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"314\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>South Africa<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Ranked 92nd, Cape Town is the best performing city in South Africa, with 3.9% growth.\u00a0Ranked 109th,\u00a0Johannesburg grew at 2.2%, while Durban registered negative growth of -5.1% &#8211;
