ANC Youth League leader Collen Maine said that the league will make life difficult for deputy president Cyril Ramaphosa, and will boo him at ANC meetings and rallies. The ANC Youth League already did this to ANC treasurer general Zweli Mkhize and former finance minister Pravin Gordhan already.

The South African Reserve Bank says the country’s junk status woes are far from over, and that risk persists that we might be downgraded even further by ratings agencies, as borrowing costs climb ever higher, and economic growth continued to slow down to a crawl. Notably, enquiries into emigration shot up by 250% after president Zuma’s cabinet reshuffle, one expert noted, particularly among middle-aged white entrepreneurs, who fear the political and economic uncertainty in the country.

The ANC in Johannesburg has pinky-promised not to disrupt an address by current DA mayor, Herman Mashaba, after tensions flared and violence broke out the last time the two parties were under the same roof. Mashaba claims he has evidence that the brawl was orchestrated by the ANC councillors, but the ANC guys say they’re ready to engage and play the role of opposition in the city.

South Africa’s rand firmed on Tuesday as investors await the U.S. Fed’s rate decision, while stocks put in marginal gains lead by steelmaker ArcelorMittal South Africa which has been lifted by a move to place tariffs on some steel products. On Wednesday, the rand was trading at R13.32 to the dollar, R17.19 to the pound and R14.56 to the euro.

Zuma’s supporters promise to boo and heckle anyone who tries to rally against him; the Reserve Bank says we’re at risk of further downgrades; inquiries into emigration have spiked since the reshuffle and junk status; and the ANC promises to behave during Joburg council meetings.

[11121,23
26
post-173069","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-finance","category-government","tag-headline
["GET
