The Financial Times has released its Executive Education rankings for 2017, listing the best business schools and customised business courses across the globe.<\/p>\n
The latest rankings<\/a> include the best 85 customised programmes and the best 75 open-enrolment programmes worldwide.<\/p>\n Executive education refers to non-degree programmes which are either tailor-made for corporate customers (customised) or available to all working managers (open), the FT said.<\/p>\n “The rankings are based principally on measures of participants\u2019 and clients\u2019 satisfaction, as well as the schools\u2019 growth in revenues, their international reach and faculty diversity,” the FT said.<\/p>\n In South Africa, the FT again placed University of Pretoria’s Gordon Institute of Business Science (Gibs) in pole position.<\/p>\n For open-enrolment programmes, University of Pretoria, Gibs placed 52nd in 2017, down from 46th in 2016, and showing a ranking of 49th over a three-year average period.<\/p>\n USB Executive Development (USB-ED), the public company of University of Stellenbosch Business School, placed 61st, up from 62nd in 2016.<\/p>\n Read: The 10 best business schools in South Africa<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n For customised programmes, international business school, Duke Corporate Education, which has operations in South Africa, based in Johannesburg, ranked third – however, the group is headquartered in the US.<\/p>\n University of Pretoria, Gibs placed better in 2017 – 41st, from 45th in the previous year.<\/p>\n University of Cape Town GSB dropped to 70th, from 67th in 2016, while USB Executive Development declined to 84th.<\/p>\n Taking both rankings into consideration, the FT ranked the top 50 business schools<\/a><\/strong>, where UP’s GIBS ranked 41st overall – the only South African school to feature.<\/p>\n Open programmes<\/strong><\/p>\n Customised programmes<\/strong><\/p>\n The best universities for maths and science in South Africa<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n South Africa\u2019s university system vs the world<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n
