Dondo Mogajane has been confirmed by Cabinet as director general of National Treasury in a permanent capacity.<\/p>\n
Finance minister Malusi Gigaba announced\u00a0 in May that Mogajane had been appointed as the acting DG of the National Treasury, following the sudden resignation of\u00a0Lungisa Fuzile.<\/p>\n
Mogajane joined the Treasury in 1999 after which he worked in a number of areas including inter-governmental relations, provincial budget analysis and has represented South Africa on the World Bank\u2019s forum.<\/p>\n
Fuzile officially tendered his resignation in April of this year, days after president Jacob Zuma\u2019s cabinet reshuffle and the firing of ex-finance minister Pravin Gordhan.<\/p>\n
David Maynier, DA shadow minister of finance welcomed the appointment.\u00a0 “His appointment puts to rest fears that a rogue, such as Brian Molefe, may have been appointed to the top job at National Treasury.<\/p>\n
“The fact is Dondo Mogajane is a career professional with nearly eighteen years of service in senior positions within National Treasury,” he said.<\/p>\n
