Deon Liebenberg has been announced as the new head of Telkom Business Mobile, and will be responsible for the strategy and execution of Telkom Business\u2019 mobile division.<\/p>\n
Prior to joining Telkom Business, Liebenberg was the managing director at Samsung South Africa. Liebenberg also served as the vice president and managing director for Africa at Research In Motion (RIM), country manager at Motorola South Africa and the executive head of sales at Vodacom.<\/p>\n
Liebenberg is a highly-respected leader in the South African telecoms market, especially for his ability to grow small companies into large market players. Liebenberg is widely-credited with building BlackBerry into the dominant smartphone platform in South Africa and making it the one of the most desirable gadgets in the country.<\/p>\n
It, therefore, makes sense that Telkom approached Liebenberg to head up its Telkom Business Mobile division to grow its market share in South Africa.<\/p>\n
Liebenberg is also no stranger to Telkom. He started his career at Telkom and left the company a few years later as the youngest senior manager at the operator.<\/p>\n
Telkom confirmed Liebenberg\u2019s appointment, and it is understood that he took up the position at Telkom Business today (16 July 2012).<\/p>\n
