The new charter sought to bring clarity and certainty to the sector, but has had the opposite effect, spreading doubt among investors. The charter is being challenged and will likely head to court.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/ewn.co.za\/2017\/06\/19\/eff-to-go-ahead-with-court-case-against-gigaba-over-gupta-naturalisation\">The EFF are moving ahead with a court case against finance minister Malusi Gigaba over his fast-tracking of the Gupta family&#8217;s citizenship, looking to get the family&#8217;s naturalisation annulled<\/a><\/strong>, and the minister held accountable for it. Immigration experts have raised a few red flags over Gigaba&#8217;s blanket rubber-stamping of the Guptas&#8217; citizenship, pointing out several discrepancies.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.timeslive.co.za\/politics\/2017-06-18-ramaphosa-sa-not-in-a-good-place\/\">Deputy president Cyril Ramaphosa says that South Africa, and the ANC, are not in a good place at the moment, and has implored that citizens vote for and elect honest leaders.<\/a><\/strong> The presidential hopeful is playing up the party line of &#8220;radical economic transformation&#8221;, but is framing it in the context of &#8220;inclusive growth&#8221;, saying that historical wrongs need to be righted, and all need to benefit, not just a select few with political connections.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.businesslive.co.za\/bd\/companies\/energy\/2017-06-19-lynne-brown-does-about-face-over-brian-molefe\/\">Public enterprises minister Lynne Brown has done a complete 180 on the Brian Molefe issue, saying that she now believes Molefe and the Eskom board have misled her on the matter of his resignation.<\/a><\/strong> In an answering affidavit to Molefe&#8217;s court challenge over his firing, Brown has turned against Molefe and the board, saying no reasonable person would have though the scheme to reinstate him as CEO would work.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>South Africa&#8217;s rand retreated from a two-and-a-half month high on Thursday after the U.S. central bank raised interest rates said it was prepared to continue tightening monetary policy.
