Deputy president, Cyril Ramaphosa \u00a0emerged with an early victory at the ANC’s National Policy Conference on Friday, after his supporters defeated a bid by\u00a0Dlamini-Zuma\u2019s camp \u00a0to prevent he tabling of a\u00a0scathing diagnostics report on the party\u2019s problems.<\/p>\n
According to a report by the City Press<\/a><\/strong>, an intense discussion broke out in the conference plenary on Friday, as Dlamini-Zuma\u2019s camp sought to flex its muscles by ensuring that ANC secretary-general Gwede Mantashe would be barred from delivering a 10-page organisational diagnostics report.<\/p>\n The report, which\u00a0placed much of the ANC\u2019s problems on President Jacob Zuma, included topics such as the role of the Guptas; the Cabinet reshuffle; the leaked emails; and the Nkandla scandal.<\/p>\n According to the City Press the decision to allow the report also formed an early proxy battle for the ANC\u2019s succession race, as members aligned themselves with Ramaphosa or Dlamini-Zuma.<\/p>\n Speaking on how the party had failed to find solutions, secretary-general Gwede Mantashe directly cited Nkandla as an example while presenting the diagnostics report.<\/p>\n \u201cOne good example is the Constitutional Court judgment on Nkandla.
