Singularity University (SU) has announced its first international summit on the African Continent.<\/p>\n
The summit, taking place in Johannesburg from\u00a023 and 24 August, will present a display of advanced technologies, extensive debate, and collaborative discussions, offering an exchange of ideas and existing best practices in the fields of\u00a0healthcare, cyberspace, AI, robotics, big data, finance, and design.<\/p>\n
In addition to expert presentations, participants will explore questions ranging from trending technological changes across the globe, to their impact on industry growth and region-specific challenges.<\/p>\n
“For some time now, we\u2019ve anticipated a very near future where smart automation will be the new operational advantage and, while there is a clear rise in consumer demand, banks will need to build things people want,” said Bellinda Carreira, Head of Interactive Marketing at Standard Bank.<\/p>\n
According to Carreira, the Singularity University Summit will be a two-day international event set to highlight the impact of AI, robotics, blockchain and other exponential technologies not only in finance, but in the similarly critical sectors of security, healthcare and design.<\/p>\n
Summit speakers include Ramez Naam, computer scientist and award-winning author; Raymond (Ray) McCauley, scientist, engineer and entrepreneur; Adetayo Bamiduro, co-founder and CEO of a crowdsourcing mobility platform for motorcycle taxis in Africa; and Dan Barry, former NASA astronaut.<\/p>\n
