{"id":186177,"date":"2017-07-18T20:12:51","date_gmt":"2017-07-18T18:12:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=186177"},"modified":"2017-07-18T21:06:01","modified_gmt":"2017-07-18T19:06:01","slug":"mercedes-benz-unveils-x-class-bakkie-in-cape-town","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/motoring\/186177\/mercedes-benz-unveils-x-class-bakkie-in-cape-town\/","title":{"rendered":"Mercedes-Benz unveils X-Class bakkie in Cape Town"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Mercedes-Benz unveiled its new X-Class bakkie at a world premier event in Cape Town on Tuesday evening.<\/p>\n<p>The group said that South Africa will be one of its core markets for the X-Class, launching in what is already a thriving market led by the Ford Ranger and Toyota Hilux.<\/p>\n<p>Mercedes-Benz currently employs in excess of 4,000 people in South Africa with a C-Class production plant in the Eastern Cape.<\/p>\n<p>The premium pickup which promises to combine &#8216;leisure and labour&#8217; boasts a\u00a0payload of up to 1.1 tonnes, and a towing capacity of up to 3.5 tonnes.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It will be tough when tough is needed&#8230;it also brings style,&#8221; the company said.<\/p>\n<p>The pickup will come in four models starting with a four cylinder engine going up to six cylinders:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>X 200 &#8211;
