{"id":186867,"date":"2017-07-23T18:00:18","date_gmt":"2017-07-23T16:00:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=186867"},"modified":"2017-07-21T17:09:06","modified_gmt":"2017-07-21T15:09:06","slug":"south-africas-mobile-banking-apps-compared","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/mobile\/186867\/south-africas-mobile-banking-apps-compared\/","title":{"rendered":"South Africa&#8217;s mobile banking apps compared"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Forrester Research has released its global mobile banking benchmark, evaluating the retail mobile banking services of 53 retail banks worldwide.<\/p>\n<p>The benchmark which focuses on\u00a0functionality and usability, found that Spanish Bank BBVA offered the best\u00a0mobile banking services worldwide with a score of 87 out of 100.<\/p>\n<p>In comparison, South Africa&#8217;s Standard Bank featured as the highest African bank with a score of 71 out of 100 in 16th position.<\/p>\n<p>Standard Bank&#8217;s high rating was due to its ease of use, the unique services it offers through the app and its mobile website, and the main websites accessibility using a mobile-browser.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\"><a  data-lightbox=\"post-image\" href=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/Forrester.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-186893 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/Forrester.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"633\" height=\"682\" srcset=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/Forrester.jpg 633w, https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/Forrester-278x300.jpg 278w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 633px) 100vw, 633px\" \/><\/a><strong>Banking apps &#8211; unique and key features<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>As Standard Bank is the only South African bank to feature in the international benchmark, BusinessTech looked into how Absa, Capitec, FNB and Nedbank&#8217;s offerings currently stack up.<\/p>\n<p>Notably, according to the South African Customer Satisfaction Index (SACSI) released in March, FNB was named as not only the best mobile-banker but also the best\u00a0for retail online banking, enterprise, and cellphone banking.<\/p>\n<p>With this in mind we chose to look at key features offered by the apps. This is not meant to act as a ranking but as a comparison between the unique features on offer and any noticeable omissions.<\/p>\n<p>All of the banks offer key services across all their platforms that are now considered standard practice meaning they were not featured on the list.
