Career Junction says that its July Index was virtually unchanged from the prior month regarding labour market conditions, with fewer job seekers going online in search of work.<\/p>\n

This, the recruitment group said, weakens competition for jobs, thereby creating a more favourable employment market for job seekers.<\/p>\n

The Career Junction Index (CJI) represents online labour dynamics in South Africa by providing a detailed analysis of the relative ratio of supply and demand in the online job market.<\/p>\n

Some sectors saw an annual decrease in demand, Career Junction said, with this trend particularly noticeable within the finance, ICT, business & management and architecture & engineering
\nsectors.<\/p>\n

The marketing, admin and sales sectors on the other hand saw a notable uptake in jobs year-on-year, it said.<\/p>\n

“Trending jobs for July include jobs in staff recruitment\/selection, client\/customer support and financial analysis, Career Junction said,” pointing out that trending jobs provide an indication of positions that have become more popular in the online job market and has seen a recent spike in demand.<\/p>\n

Career Junction said that the following occupational fields are by far the most in demand skill sets in the job market currently:<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Software development<\/strong>: Software development remains the most sought after skill set on Career Junction. Java and C# developers, in particular, are high in demand, the group said.<\/p>\n

Middle\/department management representatives\/sales consulting<\/strong>: Job advertising for sales representatives and sales consultants peaked during July 2017. Demand for sales representatives doubled\u00a0 since the onset of 2017, Career Junction said.<\/p>\n

Middle\/department management<\/strong>: Career Junction said that professionals in management face positive employment prospects. “Finance managers and sales managers are particularly well sought after. During July 2017, around 44% of all managerial vacancies were allocated to finance managers while about 23% were allocated to sales managers,” the jobs site said.<\/p>\n

Demand vs Supply<\/strong><\/p>\n

Career Junction said that the IT, finance and business & management sectors are the most sought after positions, followed by the sales, admin, office & support and architecture & engineering sectors, among others.<\/p>\n

When looking at active job seekers across various sectors, areas of high supply correlate closely to areas of high demand, the recruitment specialist said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
