{"id":19327,"date":"2012-08-02T14:10:12","date_gmt":"2012-08-02T12:10:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=19327"},"modified":"2012-08-02T14:12:17","modified_gmt":"2012-08-02T12:12:17","slug":"e-tolls-to-be-reviewed-in-november","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/government\/19327\/e-tolls-to-be-reviewed-in-november\/","title":{"rendered":"E-tolls to be reviewed in November"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The High Court in Pretoria will hear arguments in the e-toll case on November 26, Opposition to Urban Tolling Alliance (Outa) chairman Wayne Duvenage said on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The review in the high court will take place on November 26,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>On April 28, the court handed down an order preventing the SA National Roads Agency Limited (Sanral) from levying or collecting e-tolls pending the outcome of a judicial review.<\/p>\n<p>Duvenage said Outa had filed supplementary affidavits, and the respondents in the case &#8211; Sanral, National Treasury, the transport minister, and the Gauteng transport MEC &#8211; would file responding affidavits.<\/p>\n<p>After this, Outa would file a replying affidavit.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It takes quite a while,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>The Constitutional Court will hear arguments in the e-toll case on August 15.<\/p>\n<p>Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan applied to the Constitutional Court to set aside the court order preventing Sanral from implementing e-tolling.<\/p>\n<p>Gordhan argued that Judge Bill Prinsloo had ignored the principle of the separation of powers.<\/p>\n<p>He said the decision to halt e-tolling would negatively affect the economy.
