South Africa’s largest mobile operator Vodacom was trending on social media on Monday evening, as subscribers complained that their data and airtime had disappeared.<\/p>\n
“I literally switch on my mobile data for 20 seconds and boom. Data gone,” said one customer on Twitter.<\/p>\n
“I bought 10 gigs of data today and it’s all gone. @Vodacom Please talk to us,” said another comment on the social media platform.<\/p>\n
\u201cVodacom keeps taking my data & airtime as soon as I recharge. It\u2019s happened three times now. What\u2019s going on?\u201d asked another.<\/p>\n
Numerous other comments referenced the same issue and demanded that the mobile operator take action.<\/p>\n
Customers complained that they could not get through to customer care. “Vodacom Just stole 1.5 Gig what the hell is happening guys? @Vodacom the call centre is dropping us,” said a user.<\/p>\n
Vodacom said in a brief statement on Twitter: “We are aware that some customers are unable to use purchased bundles \/ getting depletion notifications. Apologies for the inconvenience.”<\/p>\n

In a separate note on Tuesday morning, Vodacom said: “We are currently reimbursing customers affected by last night billing issue. We will ensure that all related out-of bundle charges refunded.<\/p>\n
“We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience.”<\/p>\n
